PRESS RELEASE: HIVE Underwriters appoints Richard Brown to launch Property D&F class

London, 28 September 2026 -  Independent specialty MGA HIVE Underwriters is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Brown as Head of Property to lead the launch of its global Property Direct & Facultative (D&F) business, further expanding its underwriting capabilities across global specialty markets.

Brown previously served as Head of UK and International Property at Sompo. With more than 30 years’ experience in UK and international property insurance, he brings extensive market expertise and a strong track record of building and leading high-performing underwriting teams.

At HIVE, Brown will lead the development of a new team focused on writing a global Property D&F portfolio. The launch marks a further step in HIVE’s expansion as a multi-class specialty underwriting platform, bringing its knowledge-led approach to the property market.

The new class will build on HIVE’s combination of specialist underwriting expertise, advanced analytics and proprietary technology, with a focus on disciplined risk selection, long-term partnerships and sustainable portfolio performance.
