HIVE Underwriters joins the International Underwriting Association
HIVE Underwriters has joined the International Underwriting Association (IUA), marking another important step in the development of our growing multi-class specialty underwriting platform.
The new membership will see HIVE play an active role within the IUA community, contributing specialist underwriting expertise and market insight across the classes it represents, while collaborating with peers on some of the most important issues shaping the London insurance market.
For HIVE, the move is a natural extension of its knowledge-led underwriting philosophy: the belief that better underwriting decisions come from better information, deep specialist expertise and the collective intelligence created by bringing experienced people and perspectives together.
Tom Hughes, Director of Underwriting at the International Underwriting Association, said: “We are delighted to welcome HIVE Underwriters to the IUA. HIVE combines deep specialist underwriting expertise with an entrepreneurial and forward-looking approach, and importantly, there is a real appetite within the business to engage with the wider market.
“Our committees and working groups are strongest when members actively contribute their experience and perspectives. We look forward to working with Bruce, Will and the wider HIVE team and seeing them contribute across the specialist classes they represent.”
Bruce Carman, CEO of HIVE Underwriters, said: “We’ve always believed that knowledge grows through collaboration. The IUA gives our people another valuable forum in which to exchange ideas, contribute their specialist expertise and engage with the issues influencing our markets.
Throughout our growth and development, HIVE’s underwriting philosophy has remained consistent: combining experienced specialist underwriters with data, market intelligence and proprietary technology to understand complex risks more deeply and build sustainable portfolios.
IUA membership adds another dimension to that approach by giving HIVE's underwriting teams greater opportunity to participate in technical discussions, working groups and market initiatives alongside fellow specialists. With further specialist underwriting capabilities under development, we don't simply want to be members; we want to participate. We look forward to bringing HIVE’s perspective to the table and playing an active role in the IUA community.”
Will Gaunt, Chief Underwriting Officer at HIVE Underwriters, said: “Underwriting remains fundamentally a people business. The opportunity to exchange knowledge with other specialists, challenge thinking and help deepen the market's understanding of complex and evolving risks is enormously valuable. We’re looking forward to contributing.
“Active participation and engagement with the IUA and its members is critical. It creates an environment in which specialists can challenge thinking, share expertise and work collectively on increasingly complex risks. We’re looking forward to contributing the knowledge within HIVE while learning from the experience of the wider market.”
